TAUNTON, Mass. -- 1/25/2005 -- Stylish, high-performance VGA-quality microdisplay provides private cinema experience on the go

Kopin Corp. (NASDAQ: KOPN), the leading provider of microdisplays for mobile consumer electronics, today announced that Shenzhen Oriscape Electronic Co., Ltd. of China has incorporated the Kopin CyberDisplay(TM) 922k color filter VGA display into its latest and highest-end CyberMan video eyewear line.

The lightweight, portable CyberMan creates a private cinema experience, providing viewers with a virtual image equivalent to a 54-inch flat-panel screen viewed from nine feet, enhanced by full stereo sound. Two Kopin CyberDisplay color filter VGA microdisplays in the CyberMan GVD500 Series offer users the highest-resolution experience available in a video eyewear system.

“We initially launched CyberMan to capitalize on emerging mobile video technologies, including portable DVD players and wireless Internet access,” said Oriscape President Bill Ho. “At that stage, consumers were thrilled by the mere ability to get video on the go. Now they desire a richer, more dazzling multimedia experience, and Kopin’s VGA-resolution CyberDisplay delivers it. We look forward to working with Kopin to continually expand our product offerings as mobile video technology evolves.”

The Oriscape CyberMan plays media from sources such as DVD players, personal media players, PCs, portable TV tuners and cell phones. Users can also play GameCube, PlayStation and Xbox video games on the CyberMan. The VGA-equipped CyberMan will be available worldwide by the summer of 2005. Oriscape will focus a share of its marketing resources in “net bars” and video game centers, which are prolific throughout China.

“We believe the CyberMan is a great example of the kinds of mobile video products that will be launched this year and will be a strong growth driver next year and beyond, as content and delivery systems rapidly converge. This design win is also another example of Kopin’s commanding share and momentum in the fast-growing video eyewear market,” said Dr. John C. C. Fan, Kopin’s president and chief executive officer. “This market is being fueled by tremendous technological advances in mobile video, including our own contributions in display technology. Kopin and its CyberDisplay products are uniquely positioned to benefit into the next decade and beyond.”

Built with nanotechnology, the Kopin CyberDisplay Color Filter VGA is the world’s smallest, lowest power color-filter VGA-resolution and microdisplay. The active matrix liquid crystal display packs 921,600 color dots in the 0.44-inch package, a density that no other microdisplay maker has achieved. The device is capable of 16.7 million colors and extends battery power by consuming a mere 60-70 milliwatts of power while displaying a vivid full-color video image. Kopin CyberDisplays are transmissive displays and, thus, are ideal for wearable devices, camcorder and digital camera viewfinders and most portable consumer, military and industrial applications.

“Kopin’s high resolution in a tiny form factor provides big value to our users,” said Dr. Boryeu Tsaur, Kopin’s executive vice president of display operations. “Our patented technology allows us to create the smallest pixel in the microdisplay industry, which increases detail and color fidelity without increasing the overall display size. As a result, our displays generate higher-resolution computer graphics and video images, fully immersing the viewer in their movie, gaming or private computing experience. For the CyberMan, this means an expansive theatrical experience from our tiny CyberDisplays, which have compressed almost a million color dots in a 0.44-in. package.”
