Film Chronicles the Life of the Mother of Christ

WDC Media News - May 7, 2010 - (LOS ANGELES)- While the importance of Mary of Nazareth in the Gospels cannot be overstated, rarely is her life given special emphasis in film. “Mary of Nazareth,” airing on Mother’s Day, May 9th at 7:00 p.m. (PST) on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), does just that, dramatizing the story of Christ’s mother from her betrothal to Joseph to her witnessing of the crucifixion of her only beloved son – all while following Scriptures quite closely.

The film examines the life of Mary in her hometown of Nazareth, showing her dramatic encounter with the Angel Gabriel, who announces that she would give birth to the Son of God, the Savior. The movie also chronicles the heart-wrenching helplessness of a mother witnessing her own son’s betrayal, humiliation, and death on the cross.

Filmed on location in the Middle East with 110 actors and 8,500 extras, the film stars Myrium Muller as Mary and was directed by Jean Delannoy.
