Greenwood, S.C., May 7, 2010 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation has been honored as State Winner, Large Employer of the Year by the S.C. Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities. The company was recognized during a luncheon today at the Heyward Career Center in Columbia, South Carolina.

Fujifilm was cited for demonstrating its commitment to hiring individuals with disabilities at its manufacturing plant located in Greenwood, South Carolina.

“Fujifilm’s willingness to provide employment opportunities to these deserving citizens of our state is commendable and worthy of special recognition,” said Marjorie Butler, chairperson of the S.C. Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities. “This award is an indication of Fujifilm’s appreciation of the abilities and contributions that individuals with disabilities bring to the work world.”

Fujifilm was nominated by the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department. Its Greenwood center often sends applicants to the Fujifilm Manufacturing facility for interviews, and as a result, many qualified candidates have been hired.

“Fujifilm has been an exemplary partner for Vocational Rehabilitation. Our focus is getting good jobs for qualified people with disabilities, and Fujifilm has embraced our Skilled Workforce Apprenticeship Training program, which has resulted in excellent jobs for our clients,” said Barbara G. Hollis, Commissioner, South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department. “Employment in these skilled positions not only helps people with disabilities join the workforce and earn a living, but also benefits the company and our state’s economy. We commend Fujifilm for recognizing the talents and potential of South Carolinians with disabilities and for providing great job opportunities.”

“We are very proud and honored to be recognized by the S.C. Governor’s Committee as well as the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department,” said Jean Berrien, Human Resource and Organizational Effectiveness manager, Fujifilm North America Corporation. “While it is Fujifilm’s strictly followed policy to seek out qualified people according to EEO guidelines and regulations, in these times, it is a wonderful feeling to be able to provide jobs to people who also face additional life challenges.“
