Atlanta Legal Nurse Consultant Listens: "What Do Attorneys Want?"

WEBWIRE

Atlanta, Georgia – Atlanta legal nurse consultant, Liz Buddenhagen, registered nurse and certified legal nurse consultant, listened to Atlanta attorney Lance LoRusso discuss specifically how legal nurse consultants can best assist Atlanta attorneys on April 20, 2010, presented at the Georgia Legal Nurse Consultant Society meeting.

About the talk:

LoRusso tailored his talk to giving practical advice and tips to the Atlanta legal nurses regarding how they can best assist Atlanta attorneys process their cases. Noting the significant expense of a medical negligence case, LoRusso pointed out that thorough nurse review of medical records early on can be invaluable in helping the attorney to determine whether or not to pursue the potential case before significant monies are spent by the law firm.

The attorneys want the “full story” in the beginning, he said.

The attorney discussed the quandary of attorneys who would benefit from the legal nurse services but do not seek the assistance. Furthermore, he discussed the frustration on some attorneys part’s in that they are unsure of where to obtain quality nurse consultant help.

LoRusso recommended Atlanta legal nurses provide research service on expert witnesses – he sees research as being an area in which nurses excel. Researching expert witness’s board certification, professional organization memberships, publications and prior depositions can be very helpful. Analyzing and summarizing the results would be ideal in saving the attorney time.

Staying on top of current trends in medical-legal cases can be a win-win situation when the legal nurses and attorneys exchange that information.

LoRusso pointed out his preferred marketing techniques by Atlanta legal nurses include warm calls, newsletters that are brief and have a “bite” to them and legal nurse exhibits at legal conferences. He finds sample work products particularly appealing. Marketing negatives in his opinion are “blast marketing” – particularly blast emails.

Finally, the attorney reminded the Atlanta legal nurses to bear in mind: “How does a lawyer want to spend his time?” Answer: moving his case forward. Any streamlined assistance a legal nurse can offer toward this goal is valuable.
