TestAmerica’s Air Expert Provides Guidance on Quality Data Collection for Vapor Intrusion Investigations at the 2010 TCEQ Conference

WEBWIRE

William Elcoate, TestAmerica’s Air Product Manager, will present “A Practical Guide to Collecting Quality Data When Performing Vapor Intrusion Pathway Investigations” at the 2010 TCEQ Environmental Trade Fair and Conference. The presentation will be given on May 5, 2010 in Austin, TX.

Under the Lab Practices and Data Reporting track, the presentation will discuss all elements of Vapor Intrusion Pathway investigations to include the intricacies of testing, sampling, data quality objectives, compounds of potential concern, screening and risk levels. Mr. Elcoate will provide a live demonstration with the use of SUMMA Canisters and Tedlar bags for both indoor & vapor sampling.
Texas has not published rules or guidelines to specifically address the Indoor Vapor Intrusion Pathway. Under the Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP), the TCEQ requires such potentially unprotective situations to be addressed {Section 350.31 (a)}. As stated in the TCEQ Regulatory Guidance, “other reasonably anticipated to be completed exposure pathways are identified and evaluated on a site specific basis, and they may be identified by the person or the TCEQ.” One of these potential exposure pathways is Indoor Vapor Intrusion. For more information, please see the TCEQ Regulatory Guidance at:

TestAmerica provides testing services for EPA led Vapor Intrusion risk assessments and commercial clients in determining the potential risk and liabilities associated with ASTM Phase 1 & Phase 2 site assessments.

Mr. Elcoate has over 20 years of experience in the environmental testing industry and is currently a technical and regulatory expert for TestAmerica’s Air Testing Program. He has been actively involved in Vapor Intrusion seminars across the nation.
