Real Simple Launches Time-Saving iPhone App

Real Simple today announced the launch of a new magazine branded iPhone application, Real Simple To-Do Lists. The free application features more than 30 popular Real Simple customizable checklists, an easy solution for creating to-do lists from scratch, fun facts, quick tasks that allow users to “take a break,” and the unique ability to delegate tasks to any of their contacts. The application is available at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/real-simple/id363231637?mt=8. The app will be rolled out to additional mobile devices within the year.

This timesaving application gives users the ability to search Real Simple checklists by keyword or browse the following categories: cleaning, organizing, household planning, travel & style, entertaining, and weddings. Users can modify checklists to suit their needs, removing tasks, adding others, scheduling their to-dos, and checking them off. Users can also track their progress by viewing their saved lists.

Rewards are built-in to the user experience. Once users have finished a set number of tasks on their to-do lists, they are encouraged to “take a break” by shaking the device. Fun facts are served up to help them keep perspective and a sense of humor, such as how many man-hours it takes to vacuum the floors of NYC’s Empire State building. If users click on the “upcoming” tab, they see a snapshot of tasks as well as the unexpected prompt to “Outsmart To-Do List.” Clever ideas for just doing one thing such as scanning an aggregator Web site to get up to speed on current events can be added to users’ to-do lists. Shaking the phone serves up alternate quick task suggestions.

The “Delegate My To-Dos” feature lets users select “delegates” from their personal contacts and allows the user to assign them tasks. The selected contact then receives emails with their marching orders.
