Frankfurt am Main / Maastricht, Once again, Deutsche Bank is sponsoring the European Fine Art Fair TEFAF (March 12-21, 2010) in Maastricht in the Netherlands. With its support, the bank is continuing its many years of commitment at one of the world’s leading art and antiques trade fairs and at the same presenting its art program there.

Under the motto “Preview 2010,” Deutsche Bank is presenting recent international art for its Frankfurt headquarters in its Art Lounge for the first time. At the bank’s headquarters, which is currently being modernized, a panorama of global contemporary are will await visitors as of the end of 2010. The artistic concept focuses on works on paper by artists from all continents, including many recently acquired works.

For the TEFAF, Deutsche Bank selected four current artistic positions presenting surreal worlds. Paintings by the Canadian artist Marcel Dzama, which are characterized by black humor, meet pin-up girls and boxers opulently adorned by the Mexican tattoo artist Dr. Lakra. Amy Cutler’s enigmatic drawings are juxtaposed with poetic photographs by Anni Leppälä of Finland.

The Deutsche Bank Collection was founded in 1979 and today is considered the most important corporate collection of drawings and photographs since 1945. The wide-ranging selection of international artists on view in the bank’s buildings reflects both different contemporary art trends and the company’s global perspective. An important aim of the bank’s worldwide art activities is to make the creative potential of contemporary art accessible to an even wider public.

The Deutsche Bank Collection concentrates on the medium of paper, on the first idea, the draft, the concept - on those elements that represent the creative, artistic process in a direct and immediate way. This medium is playing an important role at this year’s edition of the TEFAF. While the TEFAF Design section was called into being in 2009, this year the TEFAF on Paper section is being initiated. Exclusively works on paper are being shown in a space of almost 900 square meters (9687.5 feet).
