Silverlink Works with EMC to Develop a Healthier, More Flexible Information Infrastructure

EMC Information Management and Storage Solutions Provide the Performance, Availability and Scalability to Support Dramatic Information Growth and Increase Customer Demand at Silverlink

Hopkinton, Mass.-Tuesday, March 21, 2006, EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and storage, announced today that Silverlink Communications, a leader in healthcare communications services, is using EMC to help it build a more flexible information infrastructure to maximize the performance and scalability of its services.

Silverlink helps healthcare companies nationwide increase revenue, decrease costs, improve clinical outcomes and increase customer satisfaction by enabling them to design, deploy and manage Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant automated call programs to thousands of patients and members at a time. These calls generate a tremendous amount of database information, not only from the audio files and recipient demographic records needed to create the call program, but also from the information collected about what occurs as each call is delivered. This information must be available to Silverlink’s customers 24 hours a day and in real time. In the past year, Silverlink’s call volume increased nearly ten-fold, which caused its SQL Server database environment to grow eight times larger. As its storage approached full capacity, Silverlink began evaluating storage and information management technologies that would cost-effectively support and scale to accommodate its rapidly growing business.

Additionally, to support its data access and data availability requirements, Silverlink uses EMC PowerPath® software to prioritize information access based on business requirements and enhance application and information availability in the event of failure.
