BT and Deutsche Post DHL sign communications services agreement across Asia Pacific
BT, one of the world’s leading providers of communications solutions and services, today announced the signature of a contract with Deutsche Post DHL, the world’s leading mail and logistics group, for a communications optimisation solution valued in the double digit million pounds sterling.
Under the terms of the five year agreement, BT will provide a managed services solution for Deutsche Post DHL’s telecommunications infrastructure in 15 countries and over 1,000 sites across Asia Pacific. This includes the regional operations of the DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Express, DHL Supply Chain, Global Mail and Global Business Services divisions. BT will upgrade current capabilities and operate the network over a single integrated IP platform with common standards, strict service level agreements and processes. This will enable Deutsche Post DHL to get full end to end network visibility in Asia Pacific, higher levels of service and overall efficiency gains across their networked IT infrastructure.
“BT presented us with a strong business case, showing they understood our requirements and pointing effectively to what touch points in our network would benefit from this services agreement”, said Ralf Weissbeck, Managing Director of IT Services at Deutsche Post DHL. “A key element of our requirements was for service management transparency to provide us with a more accurate operational data and commercial billing infrastructure. With its track record in managed services, BT demonstrated that they are in the best position to deliver such a large and complex project for DPDHL throughout Asia Pacific in a cost-effective way.”
Deutsche Post DHL’s network estate will be transformed into a fully managed, optimised network with central helpdesk, third party vendor management, managed security services, fixed voice and data services, and end to end service level agreements operating across multiple domestic networks – all inter-connected via BT’s MPLS backbone.
Jeff Kelly, the CEO of BT Global Services welcomed the announcement of the deal saying, “I am very proud that we have been chosen to support Deutsche Post DHL with the centralization of their services and applications. We are committed to help them achieve great efficiencies in their business by managing their networked IT services across the Asia Pacific region, with a fully resilient network to provide the best service their own customers.”
This contract is part of an overall package involving other strategic partners and third parties.
