KONE and ProRail sign ten-year partnership contract for new elevators and maintenance in the Netherlands

WEBWIRE

KONE and ProRail have signed a ten-year partnership contract for the installation of new KONE elevators and their maintenance. The contract defines KONE as one of two preferred suppliers for the installation of 175 new elevators. The maintenance period has been defined for 25 years.

ProRail is responsible for the Netherlands’ national railway network. It is responsible for construction, maintenance, management and security of the network. Over 3,200 employees ensure that 1,200,000 travelers and 100,000 barrels of goods get to their destination on time everyday.

“In the next ten years, ProRail is rolling out its Accessibility Implementation Plan in order to improve the accessibility of our stations and the installation of elevators is a direct part of this plan,” says Patrick Buck, Projects Director for ProRail. “By installing elevators into our stations, the accessibility of our platforms will be greatly increased, highly improving travel and convenience for travelers.”

“We are very pleased to have been chosen as one of ProRail’s partners as this is a great display of confidence in our company,” says Noud Veeger, EVP and Area Director for Central and North Europe, KONE. “ProRail has taken into account our installation and delivery processes as well as our maintenance methods and solutions. It is clear that those strengths were the key factors to success in implementing this new agreement.”
