Toronto, ON - MERA Systems reported the key milestones of the past year and voiced the company’s plans for the future.

In 2009 MERA Systems registered a 20% increase of clientele base worldwide, marked a significant 40% rise in the total volume of traffic processed by its softswitches, expanded its global footprint to new countries, introduced a new multi-service software platform for IP-based networks, and provided large-scale carriers’ networks with efficient solutions for a near-seamless migration to overall IPzation.

While North America remains the biggest market for MERA Systems transit softswitches, in 2009 the company marked a sensible 40% sales growth in the rest of the world, from Europe and the Middle East to Latin America and Asia & Pacific regions. This success accounts for increasing popularity of MVTS Pro, a high-performance softswitch for effective traffic handling on all types of telecom networks, that has further strengthen its position taking the place of the company’s flagman after the End of Life for MVTS I.

The rapid sales growth is hugely explained by several major technological enhancements of MERA products in terms of scalability and protocol support. In addition to fluent traffic management and comprehensive support of industry-standard H.323 and SIP protocols, the product line of transit softswitches was enhanced with implementation of SS7 support that allows carriers to migrate from TDM to IP at a pace with which they feel comfortable. Furthermore, the company upgraded the modular design of its softswitches, which enables carriers to incrementally scale up to 10 million BHCAs and expand the network capacity on a pay-as-they–grow basis.

2009 was marked by a number of key-note initiatives that paved the way for the market expansion. Technological improvements of field-proven MVTS Pro and MVTS II have resulted in rolling out a set of IP communications solutions for telecom carriers, including mobile ones, thus meaning exploration of a new market segment. The year end brought the introduction of a comprehensive softswitch called MERA RTU that covers needs of wholesale and retail carriers as well as provides a broad range of VAS. Alongside with MVTS Pro and MVTS II, MERA RTU is expected to become the ultimate choice for a broad range of telecom operators.

The company’s customer-driven policy and efforts to meet operators demands paid off as the annual customer survey showed a high level of clients’ satisfaction with MERA products functionality and reliability as well as multi-level technical support delivered by MERA Systems and its regional partners.

In 2009 the company’s focus was also made on partnership programs. MERA Systems conducted plenty of interoperability testing with reputable developers of third-party VoIP equipment, including AudioCodes, Dialogic, D-Link, thus providing customers with compliance-tested solutions. A huge emphasis was put on anti-piracy measures aimed at protecting telecom operators from counterfeiters and encouraging customers to use only licensed versions of MERA Systems products. In 2010 the company will further develop its distribution network forging business relations with resellers worldwide.

“We carried out a successful year with an especially sound performance in the wholesale telecom market where the company managed to deliver significant growth in profit,” said Konstantin Nikashov, CEO of MERA Systems, "With our technological leadership backed up with substantial investments in product development and customer support, as well as the highest appreciation of customers, we are well equipped to continue to seize new markets and drive the telecom industry forward. With a strong focus on operational excellence, in 2010 we plan to continue further technological enhancement of the company’s comprehensive solutions for IP-based networks as well as introduce beneficial services and programs for our customers.”
