The MIT Press Leverages RSuite to Streamline Production of Book and Journal Content

WEBWIRE

Audubon, PA – February 2, 2010 – The MIT Press has implemented RSuite, a content management system for publishers, along with related technologies as part of its content management strategy for the new decade. The university press publishes more than 200 new books each year and more than 40 journals. To maximize content re-use and streamline editorial and production workflow, The MIT Press selected RSuite as the central tool to support the creation, management, and dissemination of its book and journal content.

"The MIT Press clearly understood that proper tools complement a business’ strategy,” stated Mark Jacobson, senior analyst and RSuite project manager at Really Strategies, Inc. “Implementing RSuite has enabled MIT Press to streamline editorial and production workflows and will help to increase its publishing output over the next decade.”

Transitioning two publishing divisions was completed over a number of months, ensuring that production deadlines were not impacted while testing new processes. Prior to implementing its content management initiative, The MIT Press’ books and journals divisions operated as completely separate entities. Using RSuite and related technologies, allows The MIT Press to share human resources across the book and journal divisions where these tasks were previously duplicated in each division.

“RSuite has enabled The MIT Press to re-use content and implement content management with a comprehensive version history that allows employees to focus on the task at hand instead of chasing electronic files on a file server,” stated Jennifer Flint, Digital Production Manager at The MIT Press.
