Tieto signs a framework agreement with the Swedish Kammarkollegiet
Tieto is chosen as one of ten IT-suppliers by the Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency in Sweden, Kammarkollegiet. Suppliers were chosen in a tender competition for overall IT operations. The framework agreements with the chosen suppliers cover IT management services in the public sector and will affect all government agencies, 232 municipalities as well as 19 county councils and regions. The total order value is estimated at approximately SEK 4 billion during an initial 5-year period.
“We are extremely pleased that Kammarkollegiet has chosen Tieto as a supplier. IT management services and outsourcing are our focus areas, and today’s decision shows that our offer is seen very attractive,” says Krister Högne, head of the Industry Group at Tieto Sweden.
The agreement encompasses services for the operation, development and support of IT infrastructure and applications. It also includes solutions for integrating applications, software and infrastructure.
“Giving an external party responsibility for IT operations will also ensure that citizens get cost efficient, secure and professional 24-hour services,” continues Högne.
A study carried out by Tieto shows that in Sweden public sector IT costs amount to approximately SEK 40 billion per year. So far, the value of outsourced operations is only about SEK 2.3 billion. Kammarkollegiet’s framework agreement for overall IT operations will now make it easier for the public sector to open up its IT operations to competition.
Tieto works continuously on developing high-quality IT management services and is expanding its capacity in Sweden through a new, modern data centre. The centre which will be up and running in the spring has been designed for large-scale IT operations and meets the strictest requirements regarding safety and energy efficiency.
Tieto’s 5-year framework agreement will be signed on 8 February provided that no appeals are made under Swedish public procurement legislation.
