WCAV-TV Upgrades Automation System With Sundance Digital’s Titan™


Charlottesville, VA (March 16, 2006) -- Broadcasting three networks, CBS, ABC and Fox, from one master control can be a daunting task with no room for sub-par systems. So when Tim Free, Chief Engineer at WCAV-TV in Charlottesville had to upgrade his automation system he opted for a new Titan configuration from Sundance Digital.

WCAV-TV, the CBS affiliate for the Charlottesville market shares technical facilities with Fox outlet WAHU and ABC’s WVAW. Free chose a highly-scalable Titan automation suite to drive the multi-channel operation. The package also includes Sundance Digital’s NewsLink™ - a no-compromise automation solution for competitive live newscasts, and Intelli-Sat™ Broadcast Record Manager. In addition, the Company customized code to provide character generator interfaces for CGS Infographics automation and Inca Studio.

Six channels of the Leitch Nexio server system, three primary and three backup fall under Titan control, as well as Inscriber Inca Stations, tape transports and satellite receivers.
