PureVu™ Video Processors with SLL Technology™ and Full 1080p60 Performance Enable a New Wave of D-Link® Wireless Display and Home Video Distribution Products

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Cavium Networks (NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications and the connected home, today announced that D-Link has selected its PureVu™ video processors with industry leading SLL (Super-Low-Latency) Technology for a new line of wireless media streaming products. D-Link is leveraging Cavium’s revolutionary netHD™ reference design for faster market introduction of its next generation home video networking equipment. In addition, Cavium’s netHD™ technology will enable D-Link customers to enjoy secure and reliable delivery of pristine quality 1080p60 content throughout the home.

“D-Link has a long history of creating state-of-the-art home networking technologies for the consumer space,” said AJ Wang, Chief Technology Officer at D-Link. “In our view, the emerging wireless display market and the consumer demand for instant access to content from anywhere in the home is generating a tremendous opportunity for a new wave of media-focused home networking equipment. Cavium’s PureVu™ video processor family and the associated WiFi based netHD™ reference designs offered us unparalleled performance and quality, and a strong roadmap which does not suffer from the scalability and the high cost structure of other proprietary solutions in the market.”

The netHD™ reference design is based on Cavium’s industry-leading PureVu™ super low latency SLL Technology™, and enables standards-based H.264 encoding and decoding up to 1080p60 full HD video quality with sub-frame latency. The network-agnostic nature of this technology allows it to seamlessly work with a variety of standards-based networking technologies, including 802.11n Wi-Fi, G.hn, HPNA or any standard Ethernet connection for in-room or multi-room HD video delivery throughout the entire home. This reference design also incorporates support for HDCP 2.0 (High Definition Content Protection) protocol allowing Hollywood protected content to be displayed on one or multiple screens within the home at the same time.

“We are extremely pleased with D-Link’s decision to select our PureVu™ video processor family for its next generation home networking products,” said Lars Herlitz, GM of Cavium’s Multimedia Group. “Cavium’s standards-based netHD™ technology contains all the necessary components to address the quality, security, scalability, and cost requirements of the emerging and rapidly growing home video distribution market. D-Link’s decision to choose our netHD™ technology further validates the Cavium solution’s significant advantages.”
