Over 2593 miles of traffic jams in UK evening ‘rush hour’

• TomTom HD Traffic Centre showed 2593 miles of traffic across the UK at 17.00 this evening, following the worst snow fall for 14 years
• Chaos on UK roads continues in this evening’s rush hour with 934 separate traffic jams on major and secondary roads
• Total of nearly 80 hours of traffic delay 6th January 2010: Traffic chaos is continuing this evening across much of the UK tonight following continuous snow fall across most of the UK today.

TomTom’s HD Traffic, a live traffic service updated every three minutes, showed 2593 miles of traffic at 17.00 this evening on major and secondary roads, with the longest queue being nearly 18 miles on the M2 between Junction 7 (Boughton under Blean) and Junction 1 (Rochester). 934 separate traffic incidents were recorded, 759 of which were on major roads and 175 on secondary roads.
