USO Brings a Day of Healing

Fort Hood Residents Treated to a day of Carnival Rides, Games, Food and Celebrity Excitement.

Fort Hood, Texas December 11, 2009 - Fort Hood Texas is home to over 349,000 military personnel, family members, retirees and civilian employees. On November 5th, a shooting incident changed many lives forever. Since then, the community of Fort Hood has banded together and made the promise to overcome the tragic event that bought national attention to their doorstep.

To help bring a smile back to the community, the USO sponsored “Fort Hood Community Strong” on December 11, 2009. The free daylong event was dedicated to uplifting spirits with carnival rides, games, food and exciting celebrity entertainment.

The community enjoyed performances and appearances by Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, actor Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band, NHRA Army car driver Tony Schumacher, comedian Dana Carvey, rapper Chamillionare, the Zac Brown Band, STAIND lead singer Aaron Lewis, Mallory Lewis and “Lamb Chop,” Bonzo Crunch the clown and The Houston Texans Cheerleaders.
