Transmode expands Passive WDM TG-Series to 52 channels

WEBWIRE

Stockholm, Sweden - Transmode, a leading provider of optical networking solutions, today announced the expansion of TG-Series Passive WDM platform by an additional 40 DWDM channels.

Transmode’s TG-Series is a Passive WDM platform that addresses the requirement from Service Providers for low cost and scalable bandwidth in metro access networks. It is already used by a wide range of Tier 1 and 2 operators for applications such as local exchange/central office consolidation projects, Fiber-To-The-Curb/Building for MSAN and VDSL rollout and high security networks.

Through a broad range of terminal and add/drop multiplexer modules, the TG-Series supports point-to-point, mesh, bus- and ring-based network topologies. The optical modules are available in different form factors, including rack-mounted modules for central offices and street cabinets. There are also modules for splice enclosures that are ideal for use in harsh environments like manholes.

To address the requirement for additional capacity in access networks, Transmode has now extended the number of available channels from 16 CWDM channels to an additional 40 DWDM channels. Hybrid configurations are also supported with both CWDM and DWDM channels used to support applications requiring up to 52 channels each carrying up to 10Gbit/s. The system can now therefore offer performance which is fully comparable to, and even better than, WDM-PON and G-PON in terms of number of channels and capacity.

The TG-Series also leads the industry in Passive WDM system performance with a very broad range of installation and networking options, excellent price/performance, best in class density and optical specifications, and now industry leading capacity.

TG-Series DWDM modules are available now and shipping to customer deployments.

“Recent TG-Series break-through sales wins have proven that the TG-Series has what it takes to differentiate itself against solutions from incumbent WDM suppliers,” said Sten Nordell, Transmode’s Chief Technology Officer. “By adding DWDM filters Transmode has taken a large step in providing unparalleled capacity in Passive WDM networks and keeping the TG-Series at the forefront of access networking options.”
