Siemens strengthens its IT security portfolio in the area of Identity and Access Management

WEBWIRE

Munich, Mar 13, 2006, Siemens Communications has expanded its HiPath SIcurity DirX product family with the exclusive purchase of the product “Global Trust” from the Canadian company OKIOK. As a result, key functionalities have been added to the product component HiPath SIcurity DirX Access: the new software enables the authentication of identities and the granting and monitoring access rights to protected Web resources (the Identity Federation concept). DirX Access is an important component in the DirX family for the implementation of secure processes for conducting business via the internet in compliance with legal stipulations.

Handling business transactions via the Web demands rapid and secure identification and authentication of employees, business partners and customers. HiPath SIcurity DirX Access supports all the current authentication methods in this process, from user name and password to chipcards with certificates. Expanding it to include “Global Trust” ensures that functions such as Web Access Management, Web Single Sign-On, Identity Federation and Web Services Security are now integral components of DirX Access.

Web Access Management with Single Sign-On means that subscriber sessions are securely managed and users gain access to all the resources to which they are entitled while only signing on once in the network. The exchange of user identities and access rights with other companies according to the Identity Federation principle allows secure access from within a corporate Web application, for example, to the systems of suppliers and dealers without the need for repeated authentication. In addition to this, extensive audit and reporting facilities support the implementation of corporate security directives and compliance requirements.

Together with DirX and DirX Identity, the HiPath SIcurity DirX family now offers fully integrated Identity and Access Management which meets all the requirements for modern enterprise security solutions.
