Current AT&T eBill Enrollment Program Gives Customers the Chance to Win Prizes, Contributes $1 Per Subscriber to the National Arbor Day Foundation; Foundation to Recognize AT&T Effort with 2006 “promise to the Earth” Award

San Antonio, Texas, March 13, 2006, The National Arbor Day Foundation announced today that it will present AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) with the Foundation’s 2006 “Promise to the Earth” Award in recognition of an ongoing AT&T campaign that encourages residential and small-business customers to receive electronic statements through its AT&T eBill service and opt out of receiving paper bills.

Through March 31, 2006, AT&T has pledged a $1 contribution to The National Arbor Day Foundation for each new AT&T eBill activation with cancellation of their paper bill by a residential or small-business customer, with donations earmarked to support the foundation’s tree-planting and education initiatives across the country. Customers in the traditional 13-state AT&T local territory are eligible.

Since the program’s introduction in July 2005, monthly enrollments in AT&T eBill have increased by 54 percent. Annually, more than 36,000 trees are saved through the use of AT&T online services.

AT&T will be recognized this year for its leadership in the cause of tree-planting, conservation and environmental stewardship with The National Arbor Day Foundation’s 2006 “Promise to the Earth” Award, presented each April at the Foundation’s annual Arbor Day Awards celebration.

“AT&T’s creative plan to incent its customers to reduce waste and help supply trees to neighborhoods nationwide has been energizing and effective,” said John Rosenow, president, The National Arbor Day Foundation. “We always welcome the opportunity to salute companies like AT&T that are leading the way to a future of conservation and healthy tree populations.”
