Christmas Site Celebrates 9th Year Online

WEBWIRE

With the holiday season upon us, it’s a great time to find out how familiar Christmas Traditions and Customs started. Since 2000, the family friendly site www.whychristmas.com has been providing information on a range of subjects including Christmas Cards, festive foods, the Star of Bethlehem and of course Santa Claus. Visitors can also discover how Christmas is celebrated in countries around the world, from Armenia to Zimbabwe, and the background and history of the Christmas story.

The site is run by web designer James Cooper. When asked why he started the site he replied: "I originally created www.whychristmas.com for some school teacher friends to use with their classes. The site has grown over the years and is now one of largest Christmas information resources on the web. I love running the site and helping people all over the world to get into the Christmas spirit and understand the real meaning of Christmas.”

The site also features many seasonal fun activities including an online Christmas Tree to decorate, quizzes, how to say Merry Christmas in over 70 languages and the opportunity to sing along with favorite Carols and songs in Christmas Karaoke. There’s also an annual Advent Calendar, which will be on twitter this year.

In co-operation with Lifespring! Media the site also produces The Lifespring! Why Christmas Show, a podcast that delivers entertainment from the 1st December until Christmas Day.
