Tieto organizes its annual Capital Market Day for investors and analysts today on 26 November in Helsinki, Finland starting at 9.30 am EET. The aim of the event is to give the audience a comprehensive view on the recent development of Tieto’s businesses and to discuss the future plans.

The presenters in the event are Hannu Syrjälä, President & CEO and members of Tieto’s Leadership Team Eva Gidlöf (Tieto Sweden), Kavilesh Gupta (Global Service Lines), Per Johanson (Financial Services), Ari Karppinen (Tieto Finland), Bengt Möller (Telecom & Media), Ari Vanhanen (Industry Group) and Pekka Viljakainen (Tieto International).

In his presentation, CEO Hannu Syrjälä will discuss the trends in the IT market, Tieto’s performance during the past 12 months and plans for 2010. Tieto is transforming itself from a vertically focused company into an integrated business solution partner. This transformation started a year ago, and in the beginning of 2009, the company adopted a new operating and business structure that enhances collaboration, utilization and efficiency throughout the company.

“Tieto’s transformation has progressed in line with the original plans despite the economic recession and drop in demand in the IT sector. The IT market seems to be gradually bottoming out, but at this stage it is too early expect a fast rebound in demand. Our outsourcing pipeline looks promising, and customers are gradually turning their focus from pure cost savings to business development and innovation. However, it takes some time until this is seen on our top-line,” says Hannu Syrjälä.

“In Tieto, we are working hard to help drive our customers’ growth and efficiency initiatives. We continuously develop our offering portfolio and invest in new service innovations. Customers are increasingly buying IT as a service. In the future, much more focus is put on service models in which customers are billed on a pay as you go basis,” continues Syrjälä.

Tieto’s service lines are responsible for providing services to Tieto’s other business dimensions and ensuring efficient deliveries globally. The development in Tieto’s global delivery model will be discussed in Kavilesh Gupta’s presentation. The company has increased its offshore resources and will be at or close to the offshore target of 30% by the end of this year. In his presentation, Gupta also describes the quality improvements Tieto has made this year. Thanks to these improvements, the company has reached the leading position in customer satisfaction in providing application management services in the Nordic countries.

The full programme of the Capital Market Day is available on Tieto’s website. The event can also be followed live through a webcast. All presentations will be posted on the website during 26 November.
