DuPont Fire Extinguishants Protect CureSearch Data

An electrical fire threatened the records and research of the central data center for the world’s largest childhood cancer research organization in Arcadia, Calif., this fall. DuPont Fire Extinguishants and a Fike ECARO-25® clean agent suppression system contained the fire damage to the switchgear cabinet where it began.

Seconds after smoke was detected, the Fike waterless suppression system automatically extinguished the fire. CureSearch has a dedicated supporter in NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon. Through the Jeff Gordon Foundation, Jeff has committed to complete funding for a Phase I long-term follow-up study of pediatric cancer patients. The mission of his foundation is to fund:

* Programs that improve patients’ quality of life.
* Treatment that increases survivorship.
* Pediatric medical research focused on finding a cure.

The Foundation also supports the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital in Concord, N. C. In the past 10 years, the Foundation has awarded nearly $10 million to the research for a childhood cancer cure and to improve the quality of life for children with other illnesses.
