DuPont Fire Extinguishants Protect CureSearch Data

WEBWIRE

An electrical fire threatened the records and research of the central data center for the world’s largest childhood cancer research organization in Arcadia, Calif., this fall. DuPont Fire Extinguishants and a Fike ECARO-25® clean agent suppression system contained the fire damage to the switchgear cabinet where it began.

Seconds after smoke was detected, the Fike waterless suppression system automatically extinguished the fire. The clean agent system eliminated collateral water damage and expensive cleanup of the facilities. As superior, cost-effective choices for protecting high value assets, DuPont clean agent fire extinguishants reduce the threat of downtime and business interruption.

Information stored at the CureSearch Data Center is vitally important in the quest to cure childhood cancers. CureSearch links the Children’s Oncology Group, the largest childhood cancer research organization, and the National Childhood Cancer Foundation. These organizations store data at CureSearch and collaborate to find a cure for childhood cancers.

CureSearch has a dedicated supporter in NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon. Through the Jeff Gordon Foundation, Jeff has committed to complete funding for a Phase I long-term follow-up study of pediatric cancer patients. The mission of his foundation is to fund:

* Programs that improve patients’ quality of life.
* Treatment that increases survivorship.
* Pediatric medical research focused on finding a cure.

The Foundation also supports the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital in Concord, N. C. In the past 10 years, the Foundation has awarded nearly $10 million to the research for a childhood cancer cure and to improve the quality of life for children with other illnesses.
