Capacity Magazine recognises the scale and reach of Interoute’s European network

Capacity Award 2009 - London, UK - Interoute, owner operator of Europe’s largest next generation network, has won the “Best Pan-European Wholesale Offering” category at the Capacity Awards, held in Amsterdam on 23rd November 2009. This is the fourth year in succession that Interoute has won the top award in this category.

For the past three years, Capacity Award judges have been consistently impressed by the scale, resilience and strategic growth of Interoute’s pan European network. This year, the judges recognised Interoute’s thought-leadership in the development and implementation of its wholesale strategy.

“Interoute has continued to invest in the scale and reach of its European network. During Q4 2009, the company has been working on a redundant ring between Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece, as well as completing a network expansion to Moscow,” said Capacity editor, Matthew Whalley. “Interoute’s network is also acting as the landing station for a number of new submarine cable systems and in its role as the European link to the SEACOM cable, it is helping to connect East and South Africa to Europe and beyond. It continues to pursue its proactive approach to network development and is committed to increasing the depth and reach of its infrastructure.”

Interoute has cemented its reach across Central, Southern and Eastern Europe in 2009 and continues its growth in key emerging markets, expanding east into Russia and south east to the Turkish border, to provide wholesale bandwidth and transit services and corporate connectivity.

Gareth Williams, CEO of Interoute, comments: “Winning this award for the fourth consecutive year is an achievement we are all very proud of. Despite a deep recession affecting many operators, for the past year we have sustained an aggressive commitment to expansion into new regions and maintaining our lead in Europe for network reach and performance. We are thrilled to receive this award, as it signals industry recognition for the success of Interoute’s European and global business model.”
