Paris, March 10, 2006 — Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced that its IP portfolio is being deployed by T-Com, the broadband and fixed network unit of Deutsche Telekom in 10 major German cities including Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, and Stuttgart. The Alcatel IP/MPLS-based portfolio will be a part of the platform for innovative services such as IPTV and interactive consumer services.

This deployment is in line with Deutsche Telekom’s announcement to invest up to €500 million in order to provide high-level triple play services in 10 large cities of Germany.

“Triple play services require a robust infrastructure with the highest possible quality,” said Jacques Dunogué, Alcatel Executive Vice-President Europe & South. “Alcatel has extensive experience in the network transformation required to deliver the next generation of integrated communications and entertainment services. Our solution guarantees maximum availability, continuous operation and outstanding service quality – all critical to ensuring high customer satisfaction for these services.”

Deutsche Telekom will deploy the Alcatel 7750 Service Router as a component of its platform in the DSL/IP aggregation network for the 10 cities.

Worldwide, the Alcatel IP portfolio has been selected by more than 100 service providers, including AT&T (formerly SBC) who selected the portfolio as part of Project Lightspeed which will provide broadband access for up to 18 million households in the U.S., as well as network transformation projects at BT, Telia Sonera and China Telecom. In the fourth quarter of 2005, Alcatel held second place worldwide for IP edge aggregation with a market share of 25.8 percent, according to Synergy Research Group.
