Juniper Networks and O’Reilly Media Release New Book on Green Networking

Technology Book Provides Unique Outlook on Global Network as the Key Technology for Sustainability of our Planet

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Juniper Networks® (NYSE: JNPR) and O’Reilly Media today announced one of the more unique technology books to be published this calendar year, The Sustainable Network: The Accidental Answer for a Troubled Planet. As a special project of Juniper’s corporate green initiatives, The Sustainable Network reveals how a global communications network can help solve the complex environmental, economic, social and political challenges facing our planet today.

The Sustainable Network demonstrates why the global network is the best sustainable technology available to help us tackle a wide range of problems and that its future depends on the continued penetration of broadband, as well as industry innovation at all layers of the OSI Model. The thought-provoking and fact-filled book is a call to action, urging individuals, governments, markets and organizations to put the power of this network to good use.

The Sustainable Network features the products and services of the entire information and communications technology industry, from routers to mobile phones, from computers to data centers. It neither advocates one networking industry vendor over another, nor recommends one networking implementation over another. Instead, through concise and easy-to-understand examples, it provides a 10,000-foot view of how the network has advanced over the past decade to become an agent for sustainability.
