Enables Telecommunications Service Providers to Deliver Affordable Unified Communications and Collaboration Tools to Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Businesses

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA, BroadSoft Connections 2009 - BroadSoft, Inc., the worldwide leader of VoIP applications in the telecommunications industry, has joined forces with IBM to make it easier to provide real-time communication and collaboration tools in a cost effective and comprehensive way to businesses of all sizes.

The BroadWorks® Connector for Lotus® Sametime® offers a simple and powerful Lotus Sametime plug-in that allows enterprises to access BroadSoft’s IP telephony and Unified Communications (UC) capabilities from within IBM’s unified communications and collaboration (UC2) platform. With the BroadWorks Connector for Lotus Sametime, service providers can expand their BroadWorks UC solutions to large enterprises with IBM Lotus Sametime, and small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with the IBM Lotus Foundations Reach appliance - a comprehensive solution that extends the IBM Sametime UC2 capabilities in a single appliance designed with all of the essential collaboration tools needed by SMBs.

The combination of the BroadSoft® Hosted PBX solution and Lotus Foundations Reach will help minimize the cost and complexity of traditional UC solutions, a significant barrier for SMBs who typically lack the financial and IT resources of larger enterprises to acquire, manage and maintain PBX equipment and networked IT solutions. BroadSoft is working with IBM to make UC more accessible to SMBs by providing a complete solution that couples the automation of everyday tasks with the ability to remotely configure and manage the system. The solution eliminates the need for onsite IT personnel for administration and maintenance.

With BroadWorks Connector for Lotus Sametime, users experience the power of BroadWorks by extending the Sametime UC client. The BroadWorks Connector for Lotus Sametime adds the following key capabilities for Lotus Sametime and Lotus Foundations users:

* Click-to-dial to BroadWorks-enabled devices - from the Sametime UC client, the user clicks on a contact to cause a BroadWorks-controlled phone to go off-hook and initiate the call
* “In a Call” presence updates to the Sametime UC client - provides the ability to view BroadWorks contacts’ presence and automatically updates the user’s status
* Configure key BroadWorks services from the Sametime UC client - change BroadWorks Anywhere settings such as adding a new fixed or mobile end point to receive or pull calls; control Do-not-Disturb settings; manage call forwarding options; configure and enable Remote Office while away from the office; and control the list of simultaneous ringing destinations.

“The BroadWorks Connector for Lotus Sametime and our integration with Lotus Foundations Reach opens a new option for service providers to offer UC with a powerful combination of hosted and on-premises systems,” said David Bukovsky, vice president of products, BroadSoft. “BroadSoft is committed to accelerating UC adoption by SMBs. Working with IBM, we enable service providers to go-to-market with a comprehensive and cost-effective UC offering specifically developed for SMBs that will give them access to communications tools required to effectively run their businesses.”

“Unified Communications is an increasingly important offering for our industry,” said Jonathan Lieberman, CEO of ISN Telcom. “As a long-time innovator on BroadWorks, we think packaging UC and managed services by combining BroadWorks hosted voice and the Lotus Foundations appliance forms a service bundle our customers will find very enticing.”

Todd Correll, CEO of Broadsmart commented, “As Broadsmart continues to expand and add new applications, we see the opportunity to combine BroadWorks-based hosted VoIP with Lotus enterprise caliber applications in a service bundle packaged for SMBs.”

“When selecting a UC solution, many SMBs prefer the simplicity and affordability offered by a hosted UC service or an appliance that does not require IT staff to deploy and manage,” said Akiba Saeedi, Director, Unified Communications and Collaboration, IBM. “With BroadSoft, we plan to deliver the best of both worlds in a hybrid cloud and on-premise appliance for unified communications and collaboration. Using the autonomic technology in Foundations to simplify the integration and provisioning of desktop applications and telephony, this solution will provide enterprise-level functionality in a compelling new offering for service providers to bring to market.”

The BroadWorks Connector for Lotus Sametime will be generally available in the first quarter of 2010. BroadSoft is demonstrating the BroadWorks Sametime Connector at its annual users’ conference, Connections 2009: Voice & Vision, at the Phoenician Hotel in Scottsdale AZ, October 25-28, 2009.
