Industry Milestone Enables BroadSoft-powered Operators to Launch Application Stores

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA, BroadSoft Connections 2009 - BroadSoft, Inc., the worldwide leader of VoIP applications to the telecommunications industry, today introduced a new eCommerce-enabled marketplace that allows end-users to directly browse and easily purchase communications applications online. BroadSoft-powered operators can now offer a custom-branded application store populated with their selection of market ready, third-party applications sourced through the BroadSoft® Xtended program.

BroadSoft Marketplace creates new recurring revenue opportunities for telecommunications operators and application developers, while fulfilling the growing demand for services and applications that seamlessly integrate voice with Web 2.0, mobility and social networking - the key drivers influencing communication interactions today.

Currently in beta phase, the Marketplace has already attracted early adopters from its global customer base. Comporium, SimpleSignal, Telesphere and WorldxChange comprise the first wave of operators that will introduce application stores by Q1 2010.

BroadSoft Marketplace offers a considerable opportunity for developers to create and monetize communications applications by supporting a simple “onboard once - monetize everywhere” integration model. By investing once in onboarding their applications to the Marketplace, developers gain access to the subscriber bases of BroadSoft’s global customers that reach more than 500M subscribers.

“A significant milestone in the IP communications industry, the launch of the BroadSoft Marketplace completes the final phase of our three-pronged strategy for Xtended-technology, community and commerce. Starting with RESTful Web services to attract the mainstream developer, we created a vibrant community of developers, which can now be sustained through commerce through the Marketplace,” said Leslie Ferry, vice president of marketing at BroadSoft. “Service providers can immediately capitalize on and monetize the creative innovation of this developer community, while delivering value-added communications applications to their subscribers.”

BroadSoft will focus on applications that deliver value, solve real-life challenges and meet the lifestyle needs of users by providing a more integrated communications experience for businesses and consumers. The first applications and services ready for purchase include:

* SpinVox Voicemail-to-Text - a monthly subscription-based service that converts voicemail messages to text and forwards them to a user’s email inbox, enabling faster response times and easy message management
* Quickset Pro from JoeDeveloper - a downloadable application based on Adobe Air technology that manages a host of BroadWorks call functions, such as Sequential Ring, Speed Dial and Remote Office
* Mobile Max Enterprise Edition - a downloadable mobile unified communications (UC) client that allows routing of mobile calls through BroadWorks and access to key call functions, e.g., Do Not Disturb, Call Forward, from a mobile handset

BroadSoft is demonstrating the online purchase and provisioning of applications during today’s “Show me the Apps” session at BroadSoft Connections 2009: Voice & Vision, its annual executive users’ conference.
