Tucson, Arizona -- For anyone who has ever had the goal of running a marathon, a half-marathon, or even a 5k, a new club in Tucson now offers tailored support. With the help of a good coach and a proper training program, individuals can achieve their running goals, according to Andrew Clark, exercise physiologist and owner of Performance Fitness, an executive fitness training facility located at Swan and Fort Lowell Roads in Tucson.

To help Tucsonans set and reach their personal running goals, Performance Fitness is launching its new running club, Performance Endurance, with a free clinic on Saturday, October 17th at 11am, at 2951 North Swan Road. The clinic will include tips on running technique, strength training for runners, a free shoe fitting, healthy snacks and raffle prizes.

“Tucson offers ideal conditions for running,” said Clark. “We are stepping up to support runners of all abilities by offering them access to the best training available in and out of the gym.”

When Performance Endurance kicks off later this month, coach Katherine Phillips will lead twice weekly evening workouts that cover everything from Threshold Training to VO2 Max.

Phillips is a USA Track and Field Level I Certified Coach, as well as a USA Triathlon Level I Certified Coach. She spent 3 years as an assistant cross country / track and field coach at Johns Hopkins University where she helped the womens team compete in the D-III national championships. She also volunteers with Better Than Ever, the running group for the Arizona Cancer Center. Katherine is a USA Triathlon All-American, Inside Triathlon Magazine All American, and was a USA Triathlon Junior National Team member. She competed in two ITU Junior World Championships and ran under former American mile record holder, Steve Scott, at CSU San Marcos.

The twice weekly training fee will be $40/month for members ($60 for non-members.)
