Shoplifter Hit by Getaway Car

– Woman Hit By Getaway Vehicle While Shoplifting In New Jersey –

Parsippany, New Jersey – a woman absconded from Walgreen’s with $150 worth of baby formula only to be run over twice by her getaway van in the pharmacy parking lot as she tried to escape. The shoplifting incident took place at about 5:30 pm when the woman entered Walgreen’s and loaded a blue plastic bag with baby formula. She ran out the door with security in chase, and crossed the parking lot toward the getaway van, but just as she reached the van, the driver realized that there was no exit from where he was situated, and put the vehicle in reverse. The woman was run over as the van backed up. The driver panicked, put the vehicle back in drive, and sped off, hitting her a second time. The woman’s boyfriend was in the van and struggled to get out, but the driver had locked the doors. Luckily, the woman sustained mostly minor injuries, and the boyfriend did eventually make it back to the scene. The three individuals were charged with shoplifting and the driver with additional charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault.
