Joint Venture’s Carrier Ethernet Solution to Provide End-to-End Portfolio for Mobile Backhaul, Enterprise and Residential Services

PARIS.— Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that Nokia Siemens Networks and Juniper have won the Metro Network Technologies and Services award with the solution to be produced by their joint venture. The joint award was presented at the recent InfoVision awards ceremony during Broadband World Forum in Paris. The award recognizes the Carrier Ethernet Solution for mobile and fixed residential and business subscribers.

The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) InfoVision Awards recognize top contributions in the information and communication technologies industry.

The Carrier Ethernet Solution provides an end-to-end solution and consists of the Juniper Networks MX Series Ethernet Services Router, Nokia Siemens Networks A-series Carrier Ethernet Switches and the ASPEN “point-and-click” network management system. The complementary products and technologies will give service providers the industry’s best Carrier Ethernet Solution for mobile backhaul, enterprise and residential services and support all services on a single network. Juniper Networks and Nokia Siemens Networks recently announced regulatory approval for the joint venture. Plans call for the new joint solution to be sold by both companies with a targeted introduction date of the first calendar quarter of 2010.

“We were pleased to honor Juniper Networks and Nokia Siemens Networks this afternoon for their Carrier Ethernet Solution as a winner of the InfoVision Awards at the Broadband World Forum Europe 2009,” commented IEC Executive Vice President Roger Plummer. “The InfoVision Winners certainly play a significant role in delivering the broadband promise.”

“This solution is designed to enable resilient access and aggregation for service providers worldwide. Juniper’s strength in Carrier Ethernet metro aggregation and Nokia Siemens Networks’ leadership in metro access and network management will enable service providers to innovate in broadband services, while driving efficient investments that meet their business requirements,” said John Stewart, CEO of the Juniper-Nokia Siemens Networks joint venture. “We are very pleased to accept this award as a result of the cooperation between Juniper and Nokia Siemens Networks.”
