RapidSwitch puts clients in control with first Hosting API

UK’s first server hosting API gives RapidSwitch Clients real time access to their server’s bandwidth consumption, network resources, monitoring and alerts straight from the data centre.

RapidSwitch Ltd has today announced that it is introducing a new application programming interface (API) into its renowned control panel MyServers which will enable its hosting clients to use their own systems to actively control and monitor their servers.

The API, which is believed to be a first for the UK hosting industry, provides all the traditional functionality and server management clients expect from a dedicated server control panel, but delivers it over an API. The API allows RapidSwitch’s clients to build their own applications capable of sending and receiving data direct from MyServers control panel, opening up a wide range of management control possibilities.

The API contains current, historic and predicted bandwidth usage figures for ease of management planning. Ed Butler, Director, stated: “This is a key improvement to our MyServers system, and we believe that we are the first major UK dedicated server provider to implement a system like this.”

Ed Butler added: “We believe our API will benefit all types of RapidSwitch customers. Our reseller clients will be able to give their customers access to bandwidth data, IP requests, reverse DNS, reboots, KVMoIP sessions and monitoring/alerts. This will let them get closer to their customers and improve the service offered. Likewise our web developer and systems integrator clients will be able to implement this data into their own customer-facing control panels, so they can offer a full service to their clients.”
