IBC 2009, Amsterdam, Netherlands .- Blackmagic Design announced today that world leading post production facility, Smoke & Mirrors has purchased two DaVinci Resolve R360 systems at IBC 2009.

One DaVinci Resolve will be installed in the company’s London facility and the other DaVinci Resolve will be installed in their New York facility. Smoke & Mirrors will be using their new DaVinci Resolve R360 systems for cutting edge television commercials and music videos, keeping the company at the leading edge of creative workflows in their international markets.

Ben Eagleton, Smoke & Mirrors Head of Color, comments, “It’s the best system out, that’s designed for colorists by colorists and we’re thrilled!”

“We are extremely excited to be installing DaVinci Resolve into two of the worlds most exciting and creative post production facilities,” said Peter Barber, Director of Post Production, Blackmagic Design. “We are seeing increased excitement around the DaVinci products at IBC 2009 with a corresponding increase in sales to major companies such as Smoke & Mirrors. Our DaVinci IBC booth has been jammed packed with customers during the whole show and the response to the recent announcement of DaVinci being purchased by Blackmagic Design has been 100% positive! This new Smoke and Mirrors order just confirms the excitement around Blackmagic Design and DaVinci, and we are incredibly honored to be part of the Smoke & Mirrors creative workflow.”

DaVinci Resolve is being demonstrated at IBC 2009 at the DaVinci booth 7.D08.

Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve is unique as it supports more real time color correction than any other system. This advantage is because DaVinci Resolve is not limited by the performance of the computer it’s running on. DaVinci Resolve eliminates this performance barrier because its based on a cluster of computers with high performance GPU cards, so all processing is always real time. This means DaVinci Resolve has the power of a super computer for the real time performance of all color grades even when using dozens of primaries, secondaries, power windows™, multi point tracking, blurs, and more. Even native 4K resolutions, stereoscopic 3D and real time grading direct from RED raw R3D files can be handled with ease.
