Company’s Mixed Fleet Environment Now Supports MCP100 and 200 Series
SAN DIEGO and CLAREMONT, N.C. — Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading provider of business-to-business wireless enterprise applications and services, and Cargo Transporters, a supplier of quality transportation services and equipment, today announced the rollout of Qualcomm’s Mobile Computing Platform 200 Series (MCP200) in Cargo Transporter’s fleet. The deployment builds on Cargo Transporters’ existing MCP100 implementation and now gives the company and its drivers access to Wi-Fi ® networks and the ability to conduct in-cab video training.

Cargo Transporters is the second national transportation company to announce adoption of Qualcomm’s MCP200. In July 2009, Schneider National announced that it would deploy MCP200 fleet-wide. MCP200 gives fleets a competitive advantage by increasing customer service levels and decreasing costs.

“Cargo Transporters is a very forward-thinking company and recognizes the value in utilizing technology to more effectively achieve their business goals,” said Norm Ellis, vice president of transportation and logistics sales and service for Qualcomm Enterprise Services. “With MCP200, Cargo Transporters can extend their operation to the driver, enabling the driver to be more productive during non-drive time.”

“Cargo Transporters has enjoyed the benefits of the MCP100 for some time now, and adopting MCP200 is a natural migration for us,” said Dennis Dellinger, president of Cargo Transporters. “Our investment in Qualcomm’s Mobile Computing Platform continues to benefit our bottom line as we move to a mixed fleet environment with the existing MCP100 and new MCP200 with Wi-Fi and in-cab video training capabilities.”

The MCP200 delivers an expanded set of award-winning Qualcomm Transportation Services, adding in-cab video training, Internet access and multi-mode capability. The MCP200 enables fleets to effectively transform their cabs into mobile operations centers. Business-critical activities that were previously confined to a corporate office, field service center or driver kiosk can now be completed conveniently and efficiently inside the cab. With the enhanced availability of company information and client-specific instructions, drivers can make more productive use of non-driving downtime, be more self-sufficient and improve customer service.

Cargo Transporters has recently taken advantage of other Qualcomm Transportation Services. In the past year, Cargo Transporters has implemented Qualcomm’s Hours of Service (HOS), a proactive compliance management tool enabling fleets to optimize dispatch assignments by providing accurate, up-to-date driver hours availability information. HOS offers customers the resources necessary to document compliance with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT’s) hours of service regulation 395.15, including rules revised in August 2005. Qualcomm’s Web-based HOS system can be adapted rapidly if additional changes in the rules should occur.
