Wednesday, March 01, 2006, ATLANTA -- Southern Company has been recognized by the nation’s retail chains as one of five electric companies in the nation who offered the best overall customer service in 2005. This is the seventh year that Southern Company’s National Accounts organization has earned the top customer service award.

Edison Electric Institute presented the award to Southern Company during its ninth annual Customer Service Awards program at their Spring National Accounts Workshop in San Francisco.

Each year, awards are based on hundreds of surveys completed by the nation’s largest commercial retail customers. Utilities are recognized based on their overall effectiveness in providing outstanding customer service and value.

For the fourth year, Southern Company’s National Accounts manager, Janet Booker, earned an award for outstanding individual National Accounts executive. Booker’s award was based on her ability to provide multi-site customers with service levels and information above and beyond expectations.

“Continuing to be the best that we can be in customer service and satisfaction is a goal for Southern Company, and a primary focus of our business strategy,” said Henry Kelly, National Accounts manager. “It is always an honor to be recognized by our customers for the way we do business, and we are extremely proud of Janet Booker for her expertise and dedication to meeting the needs of our customers.”
