Small private school rated top online college

BOCA RATON, Fla.. – Andrew Jackson University (www.aju.edu), a little-known school that moved all its programs online in 2006, is the top-rated college based on reviews by actual students. Ratings and comments were submitted to Online Degree Reviews, a website available to all students enrolled in online courses. Students rated schools in seven categories on a one-to-ten basis, and Birmingham, Alabama based Andrew Jackson University averaged 9.6 across the board.

“We had one perfect ten rating, for value, and also did pretty well with 9.88 for student support,” said university president Don Kassner. “Our lowest rating was 9.38 for materials,” Kassner continued, “but when you see that Boise State, the school ranked number two behind us, had an average rating of 9.2, I guess we should be proud of what for us was a low score.”

Kassner was unaware of Online Degree Reviews until just recently when a Google Alert came across his desk with a link to the site. “We were curious, naturally, to see what our students were saying about us,” said Kassner, as he and his staff examined the ratings and students’ comments.

“When we see a student comment that we have ‘a robust curriculum at an amazingly affordable price,’ this makes us all proud,” stated Jarrod Morgan, one of Andrew Jackson University’s key staffers. Morgan pointed out one comment that described the effect of the school’s commitment to student services: “This school rocks in customer service…every school should have this kind of (responsiveness).”

Kassner’s choice when asked to pick one student comment he thought summed up what Andrew Jackson University was trying to provide was: “AJU is an outstanding university. I have a degree from a traditional brick and mortar university. I have also taught at a regionally accredited college. I think AJU is as good, or better, than other universities for content and difficulty of the curriculum, value, faculty, and administration.”

The rankings and these comments are available for viewing at www.onlinedegreereviews.com. “You would think that our marketing people supplied the comments and arranged the ranking,” said Kassner, “but these are real students who took it upon themselves to make these statements, all without our knowledge or prodding. And I think it’s great.”
