16,000 People Witness Magic Duo Teleport a Car in 8.5 Seconds

Singapore – On 22 Aug 2009, an incredible 16,000 people turned up for the Straits Times Part of My Life event and witnessed local celebrity illusionists, J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’ Ning teleport a Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI cross-country.

Entitled “Destination X”, the magic duo teleported the car from the Volkswagen showroom, 15km away from the event venue, onto four solid blocks elevated off the stage. A resounding roar of amazement was heard throughout the massive crowd as the car reappeared on stage in a cloud of smoke.

The mega illusion was the grand finale to the event organized by the Singapore Press Holdings on 22 Aug 2009 at Raffles Place, the heart of the Singapore business district.

This is J C & Ning’s 3rd mega illusion in two years and drew the biggest audience to date. Their previous mega illusions include teleporting 50 storeys in 5 seconds and teleporting 3 spectators across the iconic Singapore River in 2.5 seconds. Two months ago, the illusionists also set a new world record by performing 15 illusions in 5 minutes.

Their next mega stunt is scheduled for Nov 2009 and will be announced shortly.

In recent years, J C Sum & ’Magic Babe’ Ning have cemented themselves as Asia’s elite magic duo through their mega illusion events and illusion shows.

Channel News Asia highlighted that they represent “The New Faces of an Age-Old Art Form” and the Straits Times acknowledges them as “Asia’s most famous illusionists”.

Their innovative mega magic events helped them earn Merlin Awards from the International Magicians Society (U.S.A.) for “Most Original Male & Female Illusionist of the Year 2009” (respectively).

They are the first Singapore illusionists to be awarded Merlin Awards. Past winners of the Merlin award include David Copperfield, Criss Angel, Siegfried & Roy and Penn & Teller.
