Hank Watkins appointed as new President of Lloyd’s North America

Lloyd’s, the world’s leading specialist insurance market, announced today that Hank Watkins has been appointed as its new President, North America.

Hank will be responsible for all Lloyd’s operations in the US and Canada, including offices in New York, Kentucky, Illinois, Los Angeles, Virgin Islands, Montreal and Toronto.

He has held a range of positions in the United States and Europe at global insurers and brokers, including Chubb & Son; Barney & Barney; Johnson & Higgins; Hilb Rogal & Hobbs; and Marsh.

Hank will be based in New York and will take up his new role on 31 August, 2009.

Hank has a degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He is married with three children and lives in Connecticut.

2. All US business underwritten at Lloyd’s must be placed in accordance with US regulatory requirements. Coverage must comply with local law. 3. Underwriters at Lloyd’s are licensed only in Kentucky, Illinois and the US Virgin Islands, and are eligible surplus lines insurers in all US jurisdictions except Kentucky and the US Virgin Islands.

Lloyd’s underwriters are also accredited reinsurers in all states. Insurance policies issued by underwriters are not protected or guaranteed by state insurance guaranty associations or insolvency funds, except in states where licensed.
