Beginning this Fall Players Will Represent the City of Champions in the Adult Safe Hockey League’s National Championship at Various Ages and Skill Levels

EDMONTON (AB), Feb 28 2006 – Canlan Ice Sports Corp., Canada’s largest private rink operator, is excited to announce the arrival of the Adult Safe Hockey League (ASHL) in the City of Edmonton at the new River Cree Ice Sports Complex. The ASHL will afford male and female Players of all ages and skill levels an opportunity to enjoy the sport they love in a safe and competitive environment and offer local Teams the chance to represent Edmonton at annual Regional and National Championships.

“Our mission statement says it all” notes National Director Kurtis Matthews, “we provide our ASHL members across North America with a professionally managed and operated League that is safe and fun. We’re ecstatic to offer all the benefits of the ASHL to Edmonton’s recreational hockey players. Whether you’re a weekend warrior, an ex-pro, an enthusiastic beginner, or a rising star, we’ve got a division of play suited to your experience.”

Starting this September, Edmonton will join the ranks of other major Canadian centers within the ASHL fold. The League currently organizes recreational hockey for Players in Vancouver, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Toronto, and Montréal.

Matthews emphatically states, “The ASHL measures its members by their passion for the game, not just by their skill level. We bring together Players from all occupations and hockey backgrounds. And by offering Regional and National Championships to our members, we are providing recreational hockey players with a chance to experience the feeling of competing for the Olympic Gold Medal, the Stanley Cup, or a World Championship; the kind of glory usually reserved for professionals or the world’s best players.”
