Operation HOPE Receives 75K Commitment from the UPS Foundation

Partnership will help nonprofit to expand empowerment services in South Africa

Los Angeles, Financial literacy nonprofit, Operation HOPE received a $75,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of the UPS (NYSE:UPS). The grant will be used to educate and empower South African youth and women in financial literacy, dignity and entrepreneurship skills.

Banking on Our Future, HOPE’s youth financial literacy initiative, is the winner of Oprah’s Angel Network Use Your Life Award and the U.S. Treasury Department’s John Sherman Award for Financial Literacy Excellence, launched a six-year $1 million dollar investment to train 50,000 in South African in 2007. Since 1996, over 8,000 HOPE Corp volunteers have educated more than 400,000 youth globally, including 6,400 South African youth and women.

“This commitment by UPS Foundation will provide us with the foundation to expand our program and help us and improve the lives of women and youth in South Africa,” said John Hope Bryant HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO. Bryant serves as Vice Chair on the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy and is the author of the new book Love Leadership.
