Rental Trade Association Changes Name

WEBWIRE

The Rental Association of Canada (American Rental Association - Region 10) announced today that at its regularly scheduled Board Meeting in Orlando, Florida earlier this month, the Board voted unanimously in favour of changing the Associations name and logo after more than 40 years. Pending member approval, the RAC will officially become the Canadian Rental Association. (CRA)

As the Association enters a very exciting time in our history, with a change in our Executive Directorship and with a younger, more energetic Board of Directors, it was felt so too should the name of the association change. “It just makes sense” said retiring Executive Director, Dorothy Wellnitz, “people have often referred to us as such and often call and ask if they’ve reached the Canadian Rental Association, so why not have the name reflect what people are inclined to refer to you as?” Wellnitz will retire after more than 21 years at the helm next September, only to be replaced by her daughter and Executive Assistant, Mandy Maeren.

“It’s a new day at the CRA” says Paul Kenyon, incoming Chairman of the Board.“ Our Board of Directors is working diligently to build added value into the cost of membership. We’ve recently added a great new website, electronicized our Membership Directory, added a new on-line credit monitoring service and are about to launch an all new ’member driven’ Protected Self Insurance Program in the next few months’. We have several new committees working on a number of different fronts and it is all designed to improve the benefits of membership. It was the perfect time for a change”.

Wendy Dalkin of Gamboge Design in Toronto is responsible for the bold and modern new look of the CRA, having designed a new logo and group of branding materials to mark the occasion.

The Canadian Rental Association is a not-for-profit, industry trade association operating nation wide that was established in 1965 and is committed to promoting the success of our members and to advance the growth of the rental industry. The Canadian Rental Association is also considered Region 10 of the American Rental Association. (ARA) Together, the CRA is part of a network of 7500 rental businesses operating in 40 countries worldwide.
