High demand for retirement homes spurs sharp sales increase across the country .

TUCSON, Arizona, Feb. 25, 2006 – The sunbelt states have long been a magnet for retirees, but as the first wave of baby boomers retire, the real estate investment community is noting a huge shift in demand for properties in southern states. “Sales have been unbelievable,” says Chris Dougherty, CEO of U.S. Land Corporation. “In the last few months we have been selling properties as soon as we list them.” Buyers age 55 and over – better known as active adults – are looking for areas that offer good weather, recreational opportunities, and access to amenities. Dougherty notes that today’s seniors are computer-savvy and don’t hesitate to buy their property online. “These people have done their research. They have usually been planning for some time and know what they want. Now they have access to information about properties for sale all over the country.”

Seeing the explosive growth in online property sales, four major investment groups have formed a joint venture and announced the launch of a new website, www.countyland.com . The website, which caters to individual investors as well as realtors and government entities, offers thousands of choice properties across the U.S. and Mexico. Rick Donnelly, speaking on behalf of Land Experts of Arizona, LLC, feels that the investors are responding to a growing consumer trend. “Buyers like the ease of looking for real estate online. We personally inspect our properties and provide buyers with all of the information they need to make a wise choice. With online photos and property details, buyers can compare offerings without having to travel.”
