ERIE, Pa. (July 29, 2009) – Sunburst Electronics, a contract manufacturer of electronic controls in Erie, Pa., is slated to achieve ISO AS9100 certification by the fourth quarter of 2009 in order to extend its existing service to the aerospace, avionics, satellite and defense markets. The certification advances Sunburst’s long-term goal of attaining a world-class-status quality management system.

The company anticipates its ISO AS9100 certification will significantly benefit the quality programs of existing customers, as well as enhance customer service and satisfaction. Long serving the aerospace market, Sunburst has PCBA and system-level experience working with flight control, avionics, simulation and crew comfort systems.

“Sunburst’s initiative to gain ISO AS9100 certification is a testimony to our quality assurance commitment, and we also expect to expand our aerospace industry service lines, as a result,” said Kevin McDonough, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Sunburst.

AS9100, developed by the International Organization for Standardization, is an internationally recognized quality standard specific to the aerospace sector, and equips aerospace industry manufacturers to employ quality assurance practices in customer service; product development and design; testing and production methodologies; process control; traceability; and risk mitigation, among others.
