New Website Criticizes Marijuana Industry

Boston, Massachusetts, USA – WEBWIRE

“The cannabis movement is so new that supporters are afraid to say anything negative about marijuana, including discussing bad behavior in the industry.  The truth is that we’re not perfect; like all other industries, we have problems too, but no one likes to talk about them.”

A website criticizing the marijuana industry was launched this week by a frustrated industry insider.  The CannaBastard is a persona developed by American cannabis consultant Russ Hudson to attack the marijuana industries for various faults via a blog located at www.cannabastard.com

Hudson, a cannabis consultant and editor of MarijuanaGames.org, a popular cannabis entertainment website, said that his experience working with clients and associates in the cannabis industry is often frustrating;

“The cannabis movement is so new that supporters are afraid to say anything negative about marijuana, including discussing bad behavior in the industry.  The truth is that we’re not perfect; like all other industries, we have problems too, but no one likes to talk about them.”

Hudson also says that marijuana is steeped in myth that causes people to make poor or underinformed choices regarding cannabis use.  The CannaBastard website seeks not only to lambast the industry for its faults, but also to educate consumers and professionals who work in the industry, Hudson said.

With published titles like “Your Marijuana Strain Name Sucks” and “The Cure for Bad Curing,” Hudson intends to criticize the industry for everything from contaminated marijuana products to the rigging of cannabis cups and competitions.

Based on the tone and language of the CannaBastard website, Hudson probably won’t make many new friends in the industry. In fact, he might lose some followers considering upcoming articles touch on subjects like “Some Growers Need to Grow the Fu*K Up” and “You Can’t Fool Mother Nature, Mother Fu*ker.”   But ultimately, Hudson says the CannaBastard is just another check on an industry that – if not properly regulated – could easily run amuck.

“We’ve got to be honest with ourselves, and we need to ensure that this industry has checks and balances in place.  It’s like the Wild, Wild West out there right now, and I just felt like it was time for someone to call the industry out on its crap.”

Hudson says that pointing out the fledgling cannabis industry’s flaws won’t directly give him any joy, but the style of the website and its articles are his way of having fun while criticizing his own industry.  With each post featuring a “Solution” section where the “CannaBastard” discusses how to fix the main gripe of the article, it does seem like this criticism will be constructive, despite the frequent occurrence of curse words and even name-calling in some cases.

“In my regular work as a writer and consultant, things are often dry.  With the CannaBastard, I’m having fun with calling the industry out.  Why shouldn’t I?  It’s a much livelier approach and it’s one that I think people can relate to more easily.  And if my brash and aggressive style causes controversy and gets people talking and thinking about the issues, then I’ve done my job.”

Hudson intends to publish at least one new article per week on the site and is asking for recommendations from other people in the cannabis industry for subjects and topics they would like to see covered.  The website address is www.cannabastard.com
