Author Shares His Discovery of the US on the NYSRA 2016 Book Fair

In “Discovering the US on a Bicycle: And 40 Years Later,” author Edward Abair shows his readers how he was able to start his adventures of a lifetime with $250 in his pocket, a bicycle, and a pack weighing thirty-seven pounds.

His bicycle journey started in 1972 and the book is a recap of his travels on that trip. He shows how he burned in 110-degree Southwest deserts, crossed the rugged West, ascended the Continental Divide, fed the Mississippi mosquitoes, poured sweat in the humid swamplands of the South, and witnessed the devastation of a hurricane in Pennsylvania. The author also shares his joy in traveling, as he sets for another adventure 40 years later; this time using modern equipment and with his wife’s support, wich allows him to keep a promise he made after his first adventure.

Edward Abair dedicates his book to all the people who would like to travel the world and fulfill their most desired dreams. About the Author
Edward Abair, a former Army medic in Vietnam and a substitute high school teacher, bicycled across the United States on Route 66 in 1972. In a forty years career, he taught high school Social Studies, English, Spanish, Latin, Health and Driver Education. Abair and his wife, Susan, live in California.
