Hamilton’s mother overcame a blood clot and autoimmune skin disease at the age of ninety-six. Out of these events Hamilton started tracing back at her life and decided to write this book. The book details Hamilton’s life as a student, battle with multiple sclerosis, her advocacy in the community, and the struggles she shared with her mother, who was sickly most of the time.

Cynthia Hamilton, PhD is Professor Emeritus at the University of Rhode Island. She is a scholar/activist and a multiple scleroses survivor. She also taught at several universities from California to Massachusetts.
