Faith and Fellowship: War Veteran’s Story of Survival Featured in a Memoir

In his country’s time of need, Martin Latigue was one of the many who had responded. Along with hundreds of thousands of Americans, he was drafted to fight in the Vietnam War. He tells his story of survival in a time of chaos in his book, How to Pray in Combat When Your Mind Is Off.

Years after the Vietnam War, Martin Latigue revisits his memories of that tumultuous time. He recalls how President Kennedy had called upon his fellow Americans to serve their country in war. His faith and the fellowship he had with his fellow military trainees were what gave him strength through the difficult and fast-paced training. He held on to them when they joined the battle and fought for their lives.

Through his autobiography, Latigue hopes to show his readers the devastation caused by war. He also wishes to inspire more people to hold on to their faith and spirituality, especially in times of overwhelming hardship and suffering.

This book was showcased in the 2016 AJC Decatur Book Festival last September 2–4, at the downtown Decatur square, Georgia, USA.

About the Author

Martin Latigue was born during the Second World War. At the onset of the Vietnam War, he and his fellow Americans were drafted by President Kennedy to serve in the army. His book, How to Pray in Combat When Your Mind Is Off, recounts his experiences during the war.
