“Sea Shells is derived from an album Peggy and I recorded in 1955 for Decca Records, comprised of folk songs, a sea chanty, children’s play songs, and Chinese poetry that Peggy recites as I improvise Chinese-flavored music,”

Stella Castellucci’s Diving Deep for Sea Shells is a family-oriented memoir with emphasis on Stella’s life in music, primarily as a member of the accompanying jazz groups for famed singer Miss Peggy Lee. It also chronicles a lifelong friendship between the author and Miss Lee together with their respective families.

Passionate about furthering her father’s legacy in music, Castellucci joined Peggy Lee’s touring jazz group in 1953. During those times, she had established a close relationship with Peggy, collaborating and appearing on a number of Peggy Lee albums.

Sea Shells is derived from an album Peggy and I recorded in 1955 for Decca Records, comprised of folk songs, a sea chanty, children’s play songs, and Chinese poetry that Peggy recites as I improvise Chinese-flavored music,” says Castellucci.
