“The novel draws its authenticity from the author’s solid grasp of history; it draws its energy from the story of a strong female leader in a man’s world of war, intrigue, and all too frequent destruction.”

In a tale of royal conspiracy, intrigue, love, and war, a queen wages a war against enemy factions to secure her son’s claim to the throne. Set in fourteenth-century France, A Lady Crowned with Fleurs-de-Lys: A Historical Novel by Amelia V. Rogers retells the metamorphosis of the benevolent Princess Isabelle into the ruthless Isabeau of Bavaria.

Queen Isabeau features as the strong protagonist in A Lady Crowned with Fleurs-de-Lys. Isabeau becomes the regent to the heir apparent of France after her husband, King Charles VI, rapidly descends into madness. She takes control of a country on the verge of a civil war while fighting to keep other political parties from taking her son’s birthright. She uses her considerable charm and beauty to advance her cause through a series of lovers and other suitors. Unfairly, but perhaps understandably, she earns the reputation as an evil genius held in contrast with the purity of Joan of Arc as the other savior of the kingdom of France.

Amazon customer Ruth Harrison talks about the book, “The novel draws its authenticity from the author’s solid grasp of history; it draws its energy from the story of a strong female leader in a man’s world of war, intrigue, and all too frequent destruction.”

This book was featured in the 2016 Beijing International Book Fair last August 24 to 28. The event took place at the China International Exhibition Center.
