Salesforce Alums Debut Heymarket, The First-Ever Way For Businesses to Text Like Pros and Not Bros at Scale

For many professionals, text message has become the preferred way of interacting with customers one on one. It’s immediate, allows for hands-on support and fosters a personal relationship. That’s why today, Heymarket is launching the first platform to give text-based communication a professional polish. Initially launching as an iOS app, the company brings tools like lists, templates and more to SMS for the first time. Heymarket is also announcing it has received seed funding from Harrison Metal, IDG Ventures and Precursor Ventures. The company’s co-founders, Amit Kulkarni and Manav Monga, had their previous business, an enterprise productivity service called Manymoon, acquired by Salesforce.

For the millions of business and professionals where hands-on interaction is crucial, it’s getting increasingly hard to communicate with customers. Research from MailChimp has found that Email open rates average at about 20% while Facebook’s 2015 organic reach is about 10%, according to Adweek. Texting remains one of the most direct ways to interact with customers and in fact, 90 percent of people read a text within the first three minutes of receiving one, according to CustomerThink. Furthermore, 52 percent of people would prefer texting customer support over their normal form of communication.

“We first started thinking about the need for Heymarket when I got a text from someone who was helping me coordinate delivery of some furniture; he accidentally texted me Sunday morning apologizing for Saturday night, a message intended for someone else,” explained Amit Kulkarni, CEO and cofounder of Heymarket. “And while that was funny, the reality is texting was crucial and helpful in our exchange that it dawned on me that there needed to be a better way for the professionals that rely on it.”

Heymarket is bringing many first-ever features to business text-messaging including the ability to:

• Create templates that include text, photos, links, and even first names

• Organize contacts into lists, send them messages or templates, track activity, and continue private two-way chats with each

• Set reminders to follow up on customer messages and loop in co-workers for additional support

• Schedule appointments by sharing available dates and times in a text message with just a few taps

“As a real estate agent, this app makes my life easier for a number of reasons. For one, I can separate my business texts from my personal texts and I can have a separate business number from my personal number. I also love being able to put my clients into different lists as well as send pictures with the ability to annotate each and every one of the pictures,” explained Mark Choey, partner co-founder and CTO of Climb Real Estate. “Overall it’s a real paradigm shifter for me, bringing previously unavailable CRM functions to text messaging.”

While the business installs an app, customers don’t need to install anything and have messages appear as normal texts on their phones. Heymarket has a free trial and offers a premium tier for $4.99/month which unlocks unlimited domestic text messaging, lists, templates, export, scheduling, reminders and more.
